Christian Covington, Defensive Tackle, 6’2″ 289 Pounds
A defensive tackle at Rice, who will most likely slide over to end in the 3-4 system run by Houston. He has good size for that role and is a smart football player who fell due to season ending knee surgery in 2014, where he only played in seven games.
How He Helps The Houston Texans
Covington gives the team solid depth behind Watt and Jared Crick. He had 11.5 tackles for a loss and four sacks in 2013, his last full season played and was thought to be picked much higher than round six.
Covington is a strong player who also plays with great quickness and while he may not be a full-time starter any time soon, finding an NFL talent that can be a solid rotational lineman this late is always a plus.
Next: Kenny Hilliard, Seventh Round Pick
