Round 5: (C+) WR Keith Mumphery

School: Michigan State

(Traded one pick to the Jets*)

Head coach Bill O’Brien would watch the final addition made to the Texans wide receiver corpse, barring undrafted free agency, in the fourth round with the likes of Keith Mumphery.

Mumphery is a short 6’ and weighs 215 lbs. He enjoys making corners bite at wrong times and exploiting them on his route running. Physicality is something Houston prefers in it’s receivers and it’s something they can expect from Keith Mumphery in the 2015 campaign.

While some doubted whether Mumphery would be drafted at all this year, he is known for his positive work ethic and leadership, characteristics that we obvious losses with the departure of Andre Johnson earlier in the offseason. Even though we can’t expect Keith to come in and become the next no. 80, we can certainly hope that he smooths the way for a bonding, cohesive offensive team.

At least one who struggles less inside the red zone this year would be happily welcomed.
