The Houston Texans receiving corps is starting to take shape for the 2015 regular season, now that recently signed free agent wide recevier Cecil Shorts has now join the team. Shorts should help provide veteran leadership alongside rising young superstar wideout DeAndre Hopkins and recently re-signed slot recevier Damaris Johnson.

But with the upcoming NFL Draft bolstering a very talented wide recevier class, the Texans have an opportunity to find a true replacement for legendary recevier Andre Johnson, who was released by Houston earlier this offseason.

And according to the NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah’s latest mock draft, the former scout believes the Texans will do just that with their 16th overall pick on April 30th during the draft’s first round.

With the 16th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans select…

Jaelen Strong, Wide Receiver, Arizona State

Here is Jeremiah’s explanation of the selection:

"“I’m going to go Jaelen Strong, wide receiver to the Houston Texans. Andre Johnson is gone. You need a big, tall, big-time guy on the outside. Great in the redzone. He’d be a nice complement there to what they have in DeAndre Hopkins.”"

Strong is a 6-2, 217 pound recevier who ran a 4.44 forty-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine in February. Last season, he recorded 82 receptions for 1,165 yards and 10 touchdowns in only 12 games for Arizona State.

Strong’s skill set and frame has been compared to New Orleans Saints’ wideout Marques Colston. You can watch Jeremiah’s mock draft picks 11-20 in the video below.
