Your Houston Texans have given up a 7th round conditional draft pick in the 2016 draft in exchange for Ryan Mallet. To make room, fan favorite Case Keenum was released. This rumored Ryan Mallet to the Texans thing has been going on for a while now, and Bill O’Brien’s desire for big quarterbacks is quite evident. Keenum lacked the height and his skill set did not lend itself to the new Texans offense. I feel bad for Keenum, he got a bum rap with Kubiaks poor ahndling and it was evident O’Brien wasn’t impressed.

The good news is we didn’t give up anyone, like say Andre Johnson as some rumors were suggesting. According to Ian Rapoport the Texans made the move to beat Jerry Jones from doing the same. Here’s hoping this move pans out.
The trauma of regime change continues for fans as we watch players get cut or move and new faces arrive. Such is the harsh reality of the NFL, doesn’t make it sting less. However, Mallet and O’Brien are acquainted as Mallet was there when O’Brien was. The argument of he’s just a back up isn’t entirely fair as the guy ahead of him, Tom Brady well, he’s been pretty good for a while. Let’s see how all this rolls out as the Texans get ready to face the Redskins this Sunday.
