The official site of the Houston Texans reported on Thursday that No. 1 overall pick, Jadeveon Clowney was held out of practice for unspecified reasons.
In the article by Deepi Sidhu it quoted Texans head coach Bill O’Brien saying the following:
"“Yeah he’s doing fine,” O’Brien said Thursday. “We just held him out today and he’ll be fine.”"
The article went on to say the status of Clowney is “unsure” for the third preseason game on Saturday against the Denver Broncos.
In the second week of the preseason Clowney sacked Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan and had a tackle for a two-yard loss. In total he had two tackles in the second week of the preseason.
As for his first preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals, Clowney had one tackle.
I don’t think it is that big of a deal if Clowney is out of this game against the Broncos on Saturday, because him being healthy for the first week of the regular season against the Washington Redskins in more important in the grand scheme of the season.
Remember Clowney had offseason sports hernia survey before the start of training camp.
I would like to see Clowney get the chance to face an offensive unit like the Broncos with Peyton Manning as the QB though, in what is basically the “dress rehearsal” of the regular season this weekend. The Texans may not face a team with a better offense all season long.
I hope he plays, but like I said before his overall healthy for the games that count is what matters the most for the No. 1 overall pick.
