There will be some hitting and shoulder pads popping on Monday as the Houston Texans will be practicing in full pads for the first time during training camp this summer.

Head coach Bill O’Brien was asked by the Houston media about the upcoming practice. O’Brien said in quotes provided by the Texans media staff:

"“I just want to see these guys come out and compete. I want to see these guys do a good job with contact speed. I want to see these guys make sure that they take the meeting to the walk through and then ultimately for all of us, we’re all here to produce on the field and win. That is what we are here for. Hopefully, those guys go out there and get better from where they were today.”"

Monday is always a big day for football players, now matter what level, but as fans of the game this means we are a lot closer to the NFL season.

The one quote by O’Brien where he said “get better from where they were today,” that is what fans of the Texans are hoping to see as training camp is in the early stages.

Texans All-Pro defensive end J.J. Watt also spoke about being in full gear starting Monday:

"““I feel like training camp ramps up a little bit when the pads come on. Being a defensive lineman, that excites me quite a bit, obviously. But that’s football. You play the game with pads on. You hit with pads on. You get a chance to really go out there and improve your craft when you play with pads on. So I’m really looking forward to it.”"

From this point on it will be time for the Texans to forget the mess of 2013 where they finished an NFL-worst 2-14 on the year (they lost their final 14 games of the regular season) and move forward from here on out.

The pads are out and it is finally football season. Football is here!
