Let’s talk training camp! Obviously, the late 80’s was a different kind of event, now it’s only in the morning. For muggy ole’ Houston, that’s a darned good thing. Love Houston, but let’s be honest, late July early August the air is so thick you can swim in it. While I think the players, begrudgingly hehe could handle it one suspects the fan experience plays into it. Don’t forget to wear sun screen and a good insect repellent.Sadly, as much as I personally wanted to make the trip, at the moment it appears I shall be unable to attend. In fact the last time I saw a professional training camp it was the Oilers, way back in the day. Earl Campbell gave a speech to our team about hard work. It was a lot of fun, very hot and the funniest thing I remember is one of the lineman making me carry his pads for him. I don’t even remember his name now.
Free parking is available south of the Houston Methodist Training Center off of Lantern Point Drive in the Green Lot beginning at 5 a.m.on open dates.
If you’re bringing stuff, the NFL’s new “clear bag” policy is in effect. As usual there is a charity drive being part of the camp, this year it’s again the School Supply drive. Bring in school supplies and on behalf of the Texans they will be donated to the Houston Texans YMCA for handing out to those kids that need it.

For the guys, the Texans Cheerleaders will have their 2014-15 Swimsuit Calendar on sale. Don’t fret ladies your husbands are just buying it to keep track of important dates for the upcoming year. And for the kiddos there will be lots of things for them to do. Toro will be available and there will be a Kids Club Kids Zone for them to get physical and participate in many Texans themed events.
One last thing, as per the Texans PR folks, I figure I should add this:
“Free parking is available south of the Houston Methodist Training Center off of Lantern Point Drive in the Green Lot beginning at 5 a.m.on open dates. “
