With the Houston Texans defense looking like it is more than headed in the right direction, there are still questions about the quarterback position of the Houston Texans.
Some fans feel the Texans did the right thing in waiting and drafting Tom Savage in the fourth round, while others wanted a quarterback earlier in the draft.

I think for right now the Texans are OK at the quarterback position, at least for this season, with more than likely Savage taking a year to learn the NFL position, while Case Keenum and Ryan Fitzpatrick battle for the starting job this summer.
Who knows, after getting beat up last season, and showing some excitement during his early starts, maybe Keenum can progress into a good starting QB.
Stranger things have happened.
If I were to place a wager on who will be the starter under center come week one, my guess is it will be Fitzpatrick.
Houston Texans owner Bob McNair isn’t worried about the QB spot, as he was quoted in an ESPN.com article as saying:
"“[Tom Savage has] got the attributes that could allow him as he develops to become a good NFL quarterback. That’s what we were looking at.”"
Savage is 6-5 and weighs 230 pounds, as he was drafted in the 4th round (135th overall) out of Pittsburgh, where he played one season. Savage played two seasons his freshman and sophomore years at Rutgers. He didn’t play football his junior season.
The newest Texans QB passed for 2,958 yards for 21 touchdowns and nine interceptions this past season at Pitt.
We are just going to have to wait and see what happens with Savage and the QB position with the Texans as the summer rolls along.
In other Texans news:
• Fitzpatrick says he’s ready to be a mentor to Savage, as written by the Houston Chronicle.
• CSN Houston says the Texans had a second round grade on Louis Nix III. They drafted him in the third round.
• The Texans are also gearing up for rookie minicamp, as CSN Houston writes.
