The rumors of the Houston Texans trading out of the No. 1 spot in the NFL Draft have returned.
CBS Sports Senior NFL Columnist Pete Prisco wrote Monday there are “rumblings” the Texans are looking to trade out of the No. 1 overall spot in the 2014 NFL Draft, which will take place on Thursday, May 8.
Prisco wrote:
"“There are rumblings around the league now that the Houston Texans, with the first pick, are looking to move out of that spot. So who wants to go up? How about the Atlanta Falcons or Buffalo Bills with an eye on Clowney?”"
Prisco also said he believes Buffalo linebacker Khalil Mack will be a regular Pro Bowl selection once he begins his NFL career.
If the Texans were to trade down, I wouldn’t go down too far if I were them, for the fact they need to make sure they can draft either Jadeveon Clowney or Mack in this draft, especially if they are looking to go toward the defensive route in this draft early on.
If they are looking at quarterback in the first round, they, I believe, can trade out of the Top 10 and still end up with a quality quarterback like Blake Bortles or Teddy Bridgewater.
I don’t believe Johnny Manziel will be drafted later than than the Top Five, as my guess is he’ll end up with the Cleveland Browns or the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Again, as I’ve said before, this draft is still a complete mystery … and though I want it to arrive already, it is still kind of fun to try and figure out all the different players the Texans could be interested in on May 8.
