Ok … when the Houston Texans release veteran quarterback Matt Schaub this offseason (which could happen really soon), NFL.com is reporting there are a few teams who have interest in the embattled QB.
The NFL.com article says:
"“NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Saturday that a trio of teams are believed to have interest in the veteran passer, including the Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders and New York Jets, according to a source informed of Schaub’s situation.”"
I’m glad to see the Texans eventually parting ways with Schaub, and I’m glad for Schaub that he’ll be able to play with another team next season. He’s not a completely terrible QB, and deserves a fresh start somewhere in the NFL … just not in Houston.
It is a win-win for both the Texans and Schaub, and I wish the best of luck to the QB.
In other Texans news:
• Here is a “free agent primer” by ESPN.com on the Texans, listing all their free agents.
The article by Paul Kuharsky says:
"“The Texans have roughly $8 million in cap space and can get more if they cut Matt Schaub and/or safety Danieal Manning.”"
• The Ultimate Texans site by the Houston Chronicle wrote an article on Ben Tate and free agency:
"“Since Cleveland traded Trent Richardson to Indianapolis early last season, there’s been speculation that the Browns could be Tate’s next destination.”"
My guess is Tate ends up with the Cleveland Browns because they really need a new running back.
