Another week of NFL draft talk is in the books for the Houston Texans as we continue to move a little closer to the 2014 version of the draft on May 8.

This week all the talk was about Blake Bortles and Jadeveon Clowney as they seemed to be the two favorites of the Texans with the No. 1 overall pick.

ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay had the Texans selecting Bortles No.1 overall in his latest mock draft.

He wrote about the pick:

"“I still have Clowney as the No. 1 player and Bridgewater as the No. 1 QB on my board, but I consider Bortles to be the likeliest choice.”"

I feel the same way as McShay right now as I also believe Clowney is the best player in the draft and Bridgewater is the most “NFL ready” QB listed, but I think there is a lot of untapped potential with Bortles as well.

Those are the three players I have narrowed down the No. 1 selection to and the Texans would be lucky if they selected either of those three players.

My favorite as of today to be selected by the Texans is Clowney, just for the potential of what he could do on the Texans’ defense, and for the fact there will be some talent to work with for the Texans in the second round at QB if they choose to wait when drafting a QB.

Either way the Texans will end up with a good player if they select one of those three, but they really need to make sure they select the very best one for their organization.

In other Texans news:

CSN Houston reported the Texans claimed linebacker Paul Hazel and cut linebacker Evan Frierson.

Of Hazel, Dave Zangaro wrote:

"“Hazel, 6-5, 227 pounds, played in limited action in 13 games for the Browns in 2013, recording three tackles.”"

This isn’t the biggest move, but who knows where this transaction may lead.

• Here is another article on how the Texans have competition for free agent tight end Garrett Graham, as the Green Bay Packers are interested. This article is from NFL.com.

I hope the Texans re-sign Graham, because if they don’t it would be a mistake by the team.
