NFL.com reported Thursday that former Central Florida quarterback and potential No. 1 overall selection in the 2014 NFL Draft Blake Bortles is set to meet with the Houston Texans.

In the NFL.com article, it quotes him from a SirusXM Sports show as saying:

"“I think it was hard to sit in the meeting room and tell them, ‘I’m a competitor, I want to compete in every aspect, but I don’t want to throw today because it’s an uncomfortable situation.'”"

I don’t believe it is earth-shattering that Bortles is meeting with the Texans before the draft since they need a new quarterback and hold the No. 1 overall selection. The article also said Bortles is meeting with the Jacksonville Jaguars, a rival of the Texans as well, since they hold the No. 3 overall selection.

The three players I believe the Texans will be highest on as the days move closer to the NFL Draft are Bortles, quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and defensive end Jadeveon Clowney.

If they select anyone else with the No. 1 overall selection, I would be taken completely off guard.

What I like about Bortles is his build at 6-4, 230 pounds, it seems he has the body to take the beating from an NFL defense on a weekly basis.

Do I believe he’s the most “NFL ready” QB in the draft? No, that is Teddy Bridgewater, but Bortles has huge potential to become a good QB in the league, but it won’t happen overnight.

I don’t have one problem with the Texans possibly selecting Bortles at No. 1 overall, but for their sake and the sake of the fans, he better be the correct decision come May 8.
