The season is over and now it’s time to start focusing on the offseason with the Houston Texans finishing the 2013 season an NFL-worst 2-14 overall, with the 14 consecutive losses.
We might as well start by talking about who’ll be the next head coach for the Texans, and it looks as though Bill O’Brien from Penn State is the frontrunner for the job, which could be finalized before the end of the week.
John McClain of the Houston Chronicle wrote the following about the entire situation:
"“McNair wants to get the deal done with O’Brien as soon as possible rather than risk losing him to other owners who are in the market for new coaches. Five coaches were fired Monday.”"
If the Texans hire O’Brien it is a good move by the Texans and it means they will have an offensive-minded philosophy from here on out, and I actually agree with that potential philosophy.
The Texans also signed five lesser known players to reserve/future contracts as reported by McClain. Click here to see who they are.
Here is a game recap from Week 17 by House of Houston’s Blair Parker. Parker wrote:
"“The Texans really had me thinking they were going to win that game… but only for a moment. I don’t know why I was worried. Soon after their first rather impressive drive, they were back to their old ways …”"
On ESPN there was an article on Owen Daniels as he discussed his future. Tania Ganguli wrote:
"“Daniels has one more year on his contract at $4.5 million cash that comes with a $6.25 million cap hit.”"
