Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting the Houston Texans have Ken Whisenhunt “squarely on the radar.”
Schefter reported the following:
"“(The Texans) are expected to interview the San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator at the soonest chance possible, league sources said.”"
On Friday, I wrote about Whisenhunt and how I felt he could be a good fit in Houston. I wrote that Whisenhunt could work wonders for the offense and I really believe he could. Click here for the article.
Whisenhunt took the Arizona Cardinals to the Super Bowl with Kurt Warner as his quarterback, but they were defeated by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Currently, Whisenhunt is the offensive coordinator of the San Diego Chargers, where he has been a big part of the improved season of quarterback Philip Rivers.
Schefter also wrote on Sunday:
"“Smith and Whisenhunt formed a bond, shared a respect of each other’s work, and stayed in touch, the sources said.”"
I guess with the Texans it will all depend if they want to a defensive minded coach (Lovie Smith) or Whisenhunt if they want an offensive minded coach. Whomever they select as their next head coach it will go a long way in who they draft on May’s NFL Draft.
It could signal if they are going quarterback or defense with the selection of their new head coach.
As a Texans fan, do you believe Whisenhunt would be a good choice as the next head coach?
