With a vacancy at the head coaching position with the dismissal of Gary Kubiak on Friday, now is as good of a time as any to start looking at who will take over as the next head coach of the team.
The Texans this season have been a shell of their former selves, standing at 2-11 overall with a losing streak of 11 games hovering over them like a black cloud following their 27-20 loss Thursday night.
Texans owner Bob McNair said in the press conference announcing the dismissal of Kubiak,
"“We decided it was in the best interest of the organization to go ahead and start that evaluation process now. As a result of that, we felt that a change was needed in the head coach position. So Gary Kubiak is no longer the head coach.”"
He went on to say the entire team will be evaluated.
With all of that said, Wade Phillips is now the interim head coach, and for the next three weeks it is just wait and see what Case Keenum does and where the Texans end up in the standings.
As for the new head coach, here are five current and former coaches that will be or should be talked about when the Texans start the process of hiring a new head coach.
Remember, this is a very early list, as I’ll update this list until a new coach is hired.
