Greetings Texans Fans!
I watched the game Sunday, I heard the cheers when it was obvious Schaub went down. I thought it was pretty messed up. But after reading comments across the web, talking with Houston Texans fans, the general feeling I get wasn’t that they were happy to see Schaub hurt, but happy that something would change.
Granted, that change is check-down Yates, but still, a change is something this team needs. However, I doubt many Texans fans are happy change came through an injury to Matt Schaub.
Matt has been a good guy for Houston. He’s a father, a husband and he’s done right by Houston. Seeing him out to injury, let’s put it this way, if you were happy he got hurt, go cheer for another team, would ya?
We don’t want you as a fan.
That being said, the frustration, the hurt, the sheer madness that watching these last six games of “Let’s do everything the same, and pretend it’s not the play calling” is enough to drive any fan to lash out. Gary Kubiak is still the “scripted guy” and the NFL has his number.
Personally, I’d start Keenum, because he’s DIFFERENT. He isn’t Schaub or Yates. Right now, the team needs a spark, a fire. And that’s why Yates is going to start, Kubiak still hasn’t accepted the fault starts with him.
Maybe he’ll surprise us all, and he’s right now preparing an offense for on the fly changes, new angles, routes and plays. However nothing in Kubiak’s history suggests this is going to happen. He’s going to arrive at Arrowhead with a script of how he wants to go.
I am grateful Kubiak has been the Texans head coach for so long, but that’s always had the caveat that he had to change, to adapt. I thought the 2012 season would be the wake-up call. An evolved Texans offense restocked with new weapons and a new attitude. Well, obviously that didn’t happen. The worse the Texans play, the more craven the play calling. This isn’t the time to hold back, you’ve truly got nothing to lose at this point guys, go shock the world, we know you can do it.
