After original reports surfaced that undrafted free agents could sign with teams beginning last night at 6:00 p.m. ET. Later it was reported that the original report was false. Hmmmm! sounds like the recent trend of NFL Lockout on again off again hasn’t been bucked even though the lockout is finally over.
Regardless of the time of when undrafted free agents can actually be signed versus when they can begin to negotiate with a team and agrees in principal matters little to us because its only a matter of time before the signing actually gets done.
So as of right now the undrafted free agents that have agreed in principal or agreed to negotiate only to wait until tomorrow to sign are Zac Pauga, a fullback from Colorado State.
According to Lance Zierlein, Oregon wide receiver Jeff Maehl has signed with the Texans and in Zierlein’s opinion lacks speed but was indeed a very productive college wide out.
Dominic Shelden a sports reporter for KFBB News Channel 5 in Great Falls, Montana, is reporting that Carroll College fullback Bubba Bartlett has agreed in principal to sign a deal with the Houston Texans.
Texans also are rumored to have agreed to get Pete Hendrickson tackle from Tulane, according to Jayson Braddock NFL Scout and on air personality for TheXLog.com.
Florida Atlantic University 6′ 3″ wide receiver Lestar Jean is also another rumored to be signing with the Texans as an undrafted free agent. We were able to get a response from Jean via twitter in which he only gives us a thumbs up when asked about clinching the deal in princiapl with the Houston Texans. Jean went 4-86 against a Texas Longhorn team that had 3 cornerbacks drafted by NFL teams in this years draft. On one play Lestar catches a 49 yard pass on Buffalo Bills rookie Arron Williams.
Two fullbacks, two wide receivers and one offensive tackle. All these positions address potential Texans team free agents that could be on the way out. Rashad Butler not being resigned, for most of us, is not that big a surprise but the Texans preparing for life after Jacoby Jones and Vonta Leach is definitely going to take many by surprise. If in fact this is a sign of things to come.
