Houston Loses In Overtime To Jacksonville 30-27
By Staff
The Houston Texans made a much better showing than many people expected, but was still on the short end of the stick as the Jacksonville Jaguars got a field goal in overtime to put another loss on the Texans who now stand at 0-3. The Texans though have nothing to hang their heads about. In fact they played the kind of football that will win you games down the road. If we would have won the coin toss we probably would have won, but that is how it works sometimes.
You have to give Jacksonville and quarterback David Garrard credit as when they needed to make some plays they did. Looking back at the game many good things came out of the game. Houston led in first downs, yardage, but was on the short end of the football game and that will happen sometimes. Matt Schaub came out and had a very good game going 29 for 40 for 307 yards and threw three touchdowns and he did not turn the ball over which was huge. The running game was something that the Texans did not get much out of which really hurt them. I was glad though to see Schaub step up and make plays when he needed to.
Defensively we had chances as well to win the game, but did not make the plays when needed. Several times we had chances to stop Jacksonville and did not. This is one of the main reasons we lost and the Jaguars won. When you have a chance to make a tackle to end drives you have to and we did not do that. Safety C.C. Brown broke his arm and will have surgery today.
All in all Texan fans cannot be to disapponted in the performance of the team. They came out and played hard and was in it to the end. We had chances to make plays and we made some, but just not enough to win. This is a tough loss, but we must move on as the home opener is up next and Indy comes to town. Let’s get our first win of the ear against Peyton Manning.
