Texans Must Be Able To Run Against Ravens Defense
By Staff
Ahmed Green hurt his ankle in the first half against the Pittsburgh Steelers and will probably be a game-time decision if he can go or not. Without Green the Texans may elevate Darius Walker from the practice squad so they will have so more firepower at running back. If Green cannot go look for Steve Slaton to play a bigger role The Ravens defense played very well at home, but usually are not a great road defense the past few years. The key is you must be able to run the ball on this defense. If you can do that it will open many other things up for your offense. If not then your quarterback could have a very long day.
Ray Lewis will be a guy that you must be able to block if you want to run the ball. Many times the best idea is to chip him with a tight end to help your running game. I think an option might be to give Steve Slaton the ball more often as his speed should really help out against the Raven defense who sometimes is to aggressive and can be burnt. The key is running the ball so Matt Schaub and the Texans can mix up the play calls. If we cannot run the ball against the Ravens it could make it a very long day for the Texans offense.
