"Mallett’s full contract was worth $7 million over two years and had $1.75 million guaranteed. He had up to $1 million in roster bonuses, which were paid on a week-to-week basis. He earned those for the first seven weeks of the season until the Texans released him on Oct. 27.His release came three days after he was late for meetings and the team flight to South Florida. Earlier that week, coach Bill O’Brien expressed a commitment to Brian Hoyer for the season. That declaration followed six weeks of uncertainty at the quarterback position, with Mallett the team’s starter for four of them."
