Your Houston Texans were routed 17-30 by the New York Football Giants. A lackluster performance by the defense, which seemed incapable of stopping the run and uninspiring offense play lead to a beat down for the Texans at Met Life Stadium. While there were signs of life, including a beautiful 4 play drive to get the second half going made you almost think the Texans were back in it. However, three interceptions by Fitzpatrick and constant ground and pound from the Giants was too much for O’Briens squad as they went down hard.  The Texans looked like a hot mess today.  It’s not time to write the season off yet, but weaknesses that were exposed in the last two games were exploited to great success by the Giants.  Now the Texans coaching staff has to figure out hot to rectify this before the Bills pay a visit next Sunday afternoon.

Many fans were worried when the Texans put Fitzpatrick as the starter, because historically he’ll do well then have a game like this one. While the O-Line didn’t do him any favors much of the blame is entirely on him as he tried to force passes that were not there. On the defensive side of the ball, the secondary was torched on long passes while the front seven made Rashad Jennings look like an All-Pro super running back.

Would Arian Foster have made the difference? Foster was sidelined by a hamstring injury and did not suit up. Alfred Blue made a few mistakes but showed a lot of promise in his outing today. 13 carries for 78 yards including a masterful 46 yard scramble gives hope for the future. When Foster returns, Blue needs to be his new Tate and keep both men fresh to keep the running game moving.

We’ll break down the game a little deeper later, right now it’s time to take a shower, drink a cold one and shake off that nagging feeling of 2013 haunting us right now. It’s going to be a very long flight back to the Lone Star State for the Texans.
