Houston Texans scouting USC-UCLA game

The Houston Texans will be checking out some of the top NFL prospects from USC and UCLA on Saturday.

Like I’m sure every other team in the NFL, the Houston Texans will send a scout to watch Saturday’s big college football game between USC and UCLA.

Of course the two players that everyone will be watching are junior quarterbacks Josh Rosen of UCLA and Sam Darnold of USC. Now the Texans don’t need a quarterback, so they’ll be looking at their other top prospects.

It just so happens that the younger brother of Texans’ offensive lineman David Quessenberry, Scott Quessenberry, is the starting center for UCLA. He’s expected to be a mid-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, according to Jeff Risdon of Texans Wire.

While the Texans don’t need a center, they could decide to use a mid-round pick on Quessenberry and move him to offensive guard in order to make an upgrade over Xavier Su’a-Filo.

Other NFL draft prospects from UCLA are linebacker Kenny Young, safety Jaleel Wadood and wide receivers Eldridge Massington and Darren Andrews.

Now you argue that the Texans don’t desperately need another wide receiver or linebacker, but they could use a safety for sure. Houston’s secondary has struggled with inconsistency this season. So Wadood might make sense.

Some prospects from USC are edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu, linebacker Cameron Smith, wide receiver Deontay Burnet, safety Chris Hawkins and center Toa Lobdendahn.

Unfortunately, the Texans don’t have a pick within the first two rounds of next year’s draft. Hopefully they can find some offensive line help in the mid to late rounds.

At the end of the day, there’s no doubt that both USC and UCLA have players could help the Texans.
