Texans projected to receive a lot of compensatory draft picks in 2018
The Houston Texans will likely have a lot of draft picks in 2018.
There has been a large outcry from fans this offseason after they watched the Houston Texans allow star cornerback A.J. Bouye, starting safety Quintin Demps, and linebacker John Simon all leave as free agents.
The good news is that the Texans will be rewarded for losing players and not signing one player from outside of their team.
Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle says the Texans will likely get as many as four compensatory draft picks for the 2018 NFL draft.
"By not signing any outside free agents, the Texans are currently projected to receive as many as four compensatory draft picks next year. That would include probably landing a third-round selection in 2018 for losing Bouye to the AFC South divisional rival Jaguars."

The nice thing about compensatory picks is that NFL teams can now trade them after the owners gave the approval to do so starting this year.
In case you’re wondering, compensatory picks come after the regular 32 picks in each round and they start in the third round.
I personally believe the Texans have done the right thing to not spend money on outside free agents or even re-sign someone like Bouye.
Houston already has Kevin Johnson on their roster to take Bouye’s spot and they can even draft another cornerback if they wish to.
There will also be valuable free agents that the Texans can sign as we get closer to the start of training camp.
As of right now, Houston can take care of their needs in this year’s draft.
