Good morning Houston! Yeah I know it’s Monday but cheer up.  We have a load of Houston Texans news for you this morning.

First off, I can’t say I’m surprised that Jay Cutler wants to play for the Texans.  I would think any starting caliber quarterback would want to. They’re built to win now have a lot of great offensive weapons.

Here’s some news from around the web:

NFL stock rising for Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes [Houston Chronicle – John McClain]

Mahomes looked great throwing the ball at the combine. The problem is, this could mean he won’t make it to the Texans, who have the 25th overall pick.

Getting Mahomes in the second round would be more ideal then taking him in the first round.  Houston should think about trading up in the second round if he drops out of the first.

Michigan’s Jabrill Peppers says he’s a safety despite linebacker tag [Houston Chronicle – John McClain]

There’s no doubt that Peppers is a safety,.  His 4.46 forty yard dash proved that he can be an NFL defensive back.

The belief is that Peppers can come in and help out right away as a nickel corner and kick/punt returner.

Why Extending DeAndre Hopkins Makes Sense [House of Houston -Brian K. Patterson]

Of course it makes sense to sign Hopkins to an extension. But I would be surprised if it happens this year. The Houston Texans don’t have the cap room.

It will certainly happen next offseason when Houston can release Brock Osweiler and Brian Cushing.

Offering Jaelen Strong for Tony Romo Makes Sense [NFL Spin Zone – Randy Gurzi]

Why would the Cowboys make this deal?  Maybe because they would at least get something for Romo, but this doesn’t make sense.  Dallas wants draft picks, not a player.
