With this weekends trouncing of the artists once known as the Oilers your Houston Texans are now 4-4 at the halfway point in the season. Next week the Texans take on the Eagles before the bye week. This was a good bounce back game for the Texans coming off three straight losses. Fitzpatrick did not give up an interception and the Texans as a whole managed to not fumble the entire game. The defense provided some spark with two turn overs and a couple of sacks and a Watt swatt.

Foster rushed for 151 yards on 20 carries that included 2 touchdowns with his longer run going for 43 yards. Foster also factored into the passing game with 4 receptions and a reception for a score. The offense while off to its usual slow start managed to get going on the back of Fosters performance with some timely catches by Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins. It was, in the end offensively the Arian Foster show. All of this goodness came against the backdrop of Ryan Fitzpatrick being sacked 5 times for 34 negative yards. This win is tempered by the reality the Texans beat a 2-6 team.

The Titans rolled on to the field with rookie Zach Mettenberger under center. They had hopes that he would spark their offense and over all wasn’t bad going 27/41 and 299 yards through the air with 2 touchdowns to one interception. That interception was by D.J. Swearinger who jumped on a pass to the left and returned it 25 yards. J.J. Watt was in on 2 sacks including a forced fumble recovered by Tim Jamison.

Jadeveon Clowney saw more action then anticipated but didn’t directly impact the game much. His box score is an uninspiring 1 solo tackle. However, having him out there took pressure off of Watt which until he gets back to 100% is really his job. Get the offense to worry about him enough to free up Watt. It wasn’t his finest game, stat wise but you could see the peripheral disruption he was causing forcing the Titans to commit extra attention to him. The defense was burned for a couple of passes deep but held the Titans to trash time touchdowns.

Next week the Texans have to contend with the Eagles and their fast offense. This week provided the perfect morale boost for a much tougher challenge.
