ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting the St. Louis Rams have claimed former Houston Texans quarterback Case Kenum off waivers per sources.
On his Facebook post, Schefter wrote:
“Rams claimed QB Case Keenum on waivers, per team official. Rams spent a lot time researching Keenum past 24 hours.”
This is a very smart move by the Rams because they’ve already lost their starting QB Sam Bradford with another torn ACL injury for the entire 2014 season.
My guess is Keenum will have an opportunity to start for the Rams as their current starter is Shaun Hill. Keenum started eight games for the Texans last season.
Keenum was 0-8 as the Texans starter, as he was an undrafted QB by the Texans in 2012 out of the University of Houston.
In ’13, Keenum was 137-of-253 for 1,760 yards with nine touchdowns and six interceptions for the Texans as the starter.
He also fumbled six times in ’13, where the Texans finished 2-14 overall.
Maybe the Rams will now have a few more fans from the Houston area with their signing of Keenum on Monday.
Keenum was released by the Texans on Sunday, the same day the Texans traded for quarterback Ryan Mallett for a seventh round draft pick in 2016.
