The Houston Texans cut nine players on Monday, and put David Quessenberry on the non-football injury list.

The Houston Chronicle reported the following nine players were cut by the Texans:

Wide receivers: Joe Adams, Alec Lemon

Running Back: William Powell

Offensive line: Sam Longo (guard)

Defense: David Hunter (NT), Junior Mertile (CB), Lawrence Sidbury (OLB), Terrence Lloyd (OLB), Austin Brown (NT)

None of these cuts or roster moves are really a surprise as the Texans brought in some players this offseason to fill some depth needs that some of these players had last season.

The Texans must have the roster down to 53 players next week, and according to the Chronicle’s article they need to make four more cuts before 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

It will be very interesting to see who the Texans keep on their roster not only for this round of cuts, but for the final 53 man roster next week.

The Texans open the 2014 season vs. the Washington Redskins on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 1 p.m. ET.

Who do you believe the Texans need to keep to battle for final roster spots?
