Houston Texans get B+ offseason grade from USA Today


The recently released USA Today Sports NFL Forecast Special Edition issue they have given the Houston Texans an offseason grade of a B+, which is tied for the fourth best grade of the offseason.

Also receiving a B+ grade for their offseason were the Baltimore Ravens and the Seattle Seahawks.

Of the Texans, USA Today wrote:

“The Texans’ pivotal addition promises to be head coach Bill O’Brien, whose reputation as a quarterback whisperer in reigning in Ryan Fitzpatrick and/or prepping Tom Savage.”

The Texans signed Fitzpatrick this offseason as a free agent, and drafted Savage in the fourth round (Pick No. 135 overall). Savage was the 35th pick of the fourth round.

I like this grade for the Texans because I feel they have done a lot to improve, but I still feel they could have done more at the QB position, because as I’ve said many times I just not sure about the Texans at QB.

The defense is going to be dangerous with the addition of Jadeveon Clowney, but overall this is a very fair grade for the Texans, if anything the grade might just be a tad too high.

I think the “plus” of the B+ grade is because of the hire of O’Brien in January, because like USA Today said he will make a very big and positive difference with this franchise.
