No. 1 overall draft pick Jadeveon Clowney says he “wants to be the best,” as improving his game is what the Houston Texans expect of him throughout the offseason.

In the ESPN Sunday Conversation with Sal Paolantonio, Clowney said the following:

"“Now I’m onto another goal and that is to be the best Jadeveon Clowney can be in the NFL. Learn the playbook and be the best teammate I can be to the guys around me.”"

I like that Clowney has this “new” attitude when it comes to football, that he no realizes what it takes to be a “real pro,” because that was one of the questions surrounding him during the draft process.

Maybe one day Clowney can become the best defensive player in the entire league.

It may take a few years to achieve that feat, because I believe he’ll be playing along side the best defensive end in the entire NFL in J.J. Watt, but if he can be the second best defensive end/outside linebacker that will be a sight to watch.

What I like about Clowney is he doesn’t have an attitude that he is entitled, even though he is the No. 1 overall pick, and will have to work his way to being “the best” in the NFL.

Plus with some of the teammates he has on the defensive side of the roster, especially Watt and Brian Cushing, I don’t think they’ll be any problems.

On another note with Clowney, just think how good he’ll be playing in the Romeo Crennel 3-4 defensive scheme with all the talent that surrounds him, plus the talent he brings to that newly revamped defense.

This defense hopefully improves from what we witnessed last year, and if nothing else it will be interesting to watch progress throughout this offseason.
