Round 6: Texans select DE Jeoffrey Pagan

With their first sixth-round selection, the Houston Texans have selected Alabama defensive end Jeoffrey Pagan.

The Texans are really revamping their defensive line potentially with the addition of not only Pagan, but with other selections in this 2014 NFL Draft.

As for Pagan (6-3, 310 pounds), he was the 177th overall pick, the first pick of the sixth round.

Pagan is described in his NFL.com draft profiles the following type of player:

“Good size. Can occupy blocks and squeeze running lanes. Strong hands to press and tug free. Can push the pocket. Heavy tackler. Played multiple techniques in a pro-style, hybrid defensive scheme.”

He was projected as a third- or fourth-round talent and was graded at 5.4.

Pagan, in three years with the Crimson Tide, totaled 60 tackles (27 solo) and 3.5 sacks. He also forced one fumble. This past season, he had 33 total tackles (17 solo) with 3.5 sacks.

This could be another space filler that can help free up J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney on the defensive line.

In the third round, the Texans selected nose tackle Louis Nix III from Notre Dame.
