Adam Schefter of ESPN.com tweeted out today that the Houston Texans are one of a few teams that want to trade up into the first round for a second first round selection.
With the 2014 NFL Draft beginning tonight, Schefter tweeted the Texans have inquired about trading their second round choice (and other picks) to get a second first round choice for Thursday evening.
The Texans have a total of 11 picks this draft.
Here is the tweet from Schefter:
Teams that have inquired about trading UP include DET, NYJ, CLEV (from 26), SF, HOU (from round 2 into 1), ATL (from round 2 into 1).

He also mentions the Detroit Lions, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, San Francisco 49ers and the Atlanta Falcons have interest in moving up in the first round, or gaining a second first round choice.
If that is the case, to me it seems the Texans will be selecting a player other than a quarterback No. 1 overall, then if they were to land a second first round choice that pick would be a QB.
If you think about it, a strategy to gain a second first round choice makes a lot of sense for the Texans and one I wouldn’t be opposed to them making.
