Houston Texans Roundup (5/7): The Final Countdown

facebooktwitterreddit

One. That number, one, is how many days we have left until we find out who the newest member of the Houston Texans will be.

The newest Texans player could come from the No. 1 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, or they could come from a pick later in the first round. We honestly have no set knowledge of the draft strategy except the following … they pick a player No. 1 overall or they trade out of the top spot.

Houston Texans head coach Bill O’Brien.

That is all we know, as we are down to the final countdown so to speak. We are just one day away from all of the guessing, the predicting and the debating as to who should be the No. 1 overall pick being done. Finished.

It is almost over.

Now the fun part … who exactly are the Texans going to draft tomorrow night at Radio City Music Hall?

I’m still saying the odds-on-favorite is South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney only if the Texans keep the No. 1 overall pick. If they trade down, but stay in the Top 5 or 6 picks of the draft, I see them selecting Johnny Manziel as their next quarterback.

I can’t recall the last time I’ve been so intrigued with the No. 1 overall selection in an NFL Draft. I don’t believe it is because there is no sure thing in terms of players, but I believe it is because this draft is full of very quality prospects.
