The editors of the FanSided NFL division recently participated in a first-round mock draft.

With the first selection, the Toro Times selected South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney to go to the Houston Texans.

Here is what I wrote as to why the official Toro Times selection is Clowney:

"“Like many have said, Jadeveon Clowney is a once in 20-year talent. I can’t get over the potential that he can bring to the Texans defense, opposite of J.J. Watt, and having Brian Cushing back playing at linebacker. The NFL has proven that you win championships with the best defense. Two of the best teams in the NFL (49ers, Seahawks) rebuilt their franchises with defense first, then they built their offense. The Texans need to do the same thing here by drafting Clowney No. 1 overall, he’s too good of a talent to pass up.”"

I just believe for long-term success that Clowney is the best choice for the Texans in 2014 and beyond. I don’t believe I’ll be wrong 10 years from now, and Clowney could be – no, will be – the guy that rights the ship in Houston for years to come.
