Will the Houston Texans really trade the No. 1 overall selection? According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, it could happen.
In the PFT article, it states:
“Speaking of the No. 1 selection, there’s a chance the Texans could try to trade down and draft a quarterback lower than No. 1. Unless another team emerges as a clear contender to move up, the Lions could play the Texans against the Rams to get a better deal for the No. 1 or No. 2 pick.”
If I were Houston, the deal would have to be pretty sweet to trade the No. 1 overall pick. It would have to include the Detroit Lions’ No. 10 pick (if the trade were with the Lions) and either their second rounder this year, or their first round choice next season, or there would be no deal at all.
Honestly, I wouldn’t trade this pick, just for the fact the smartest move for Houston would be to draft Jadeveon Clowney at No. 1 … or, if they were to trade down, make sure they are in a spot to where they can draft Khalil Mack of Buffalo, because he looks to be another solid pro for years to come.
And, with the injuries the Texans have had at linebacker, it would be smart of them to draft a linebacker or two with some of their 11 total picks in this draft.
I really don’t see the Texans passing up on the No. 1 selection, but if they do, you can bet they will get their money’s worth with whomever decides to make a trade with them.
