Houston Texans preseason opponents released

The 2014 Houston Texans preseason opponents were released Wednesday, with their first game under Bill O’Brien this preseason being away from Houston.

The first week of preseason for the Texans, they will travel to face Arizona Cardinals of the NFC West.

In their second preseason matchup, the Texans (who were an NFL-worst 2-14 last season) will take on the Atlanta Falcons of the NFC South in Houston.

The Texans will then travel to face the reigning AFC Champion Denver Broncos (of the AFC West) for their third preseason game. The Broncos lost in the Super Bowl to the Seattle Seahawks, 43-8.

Houston will wrap up the preseason on Aug. 28 when they host the San Francisco 49ers (NFC West). The 49ers have played in the NFC Championship game the past three seasons, winning once.

This past regular season, the Texans lost to the 49ers by a 34-3 score. They also played the Cardinals, who defeated them, 27-24. Against the Broncos, in Week 16, the Texans fell to Denver, 37-13.
