NFL.com is reporting that former Auburn offensive tackle Greg Robinson wants to be the No. 1 overall selection which is held by the by the Houston Texans.
Robinson is a lock to be a pick in the first round, as the first round should be full with offensive tackles.
In the NFL.com article by Chase Goodbread quotes Robinson as saying:
“I’ve just been hearing a lot of things, and it’s a possibility that I can go No. 1, but I don’t know. As far as Clowney and all the rest of them, I don’t really know what they’ve been doing and which coaches like them, but it’s fair game, really. You never know.”
Now this would be very interesting to say the least. I’ve never really thought about the Texans potentially drafting Robinson with the No. 1 overall selection.
In the March 3 CBS Sports Draft Prospect rankings, Robinson is the No. 1 offensive tackle and the No. 2 overall player, trailing only former South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney.
Let’s say the Texans do skip taking a QB in the first round. It is likely they could, but I honestly don’t see them drafting Robinson No. 1 overall if they were to not draft a QB.
If the Texans were to pass on a QB in the first round with the No. 1 overall pick, I see them drafting Clowney over anyone else in the draft, including Robinson, even though he’s a highly talented player.
