Former Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak was hired Monday by the Baltimore Ravens as their new offensive coordinator.
“The Ravens also hired Rick Dennison, Kubiak’s offensive coordinator in Houston, as quarterbacks coach.”
Kubiak replaces Jim Caldwell who was hired this offseason by the Detroit Lions as their head coach. Kubiak was fired by the Texans in early December as they eventually finished with the worst record in the NFL at 2-14 overall. Since then Bill O’Brien was named as the latest Texans head coach.
Kubiak was 61-64 in his almost eight full seasons as the Texans head coach.
I’m glad to see Kubiak get another job in the NFL, and he’s in a very solid franchise in Baltimore.
It isn’t like Kubiak forgot how to coach in the NFL last season, as he did lead the Texans to two consecutive AFC South championships and two playoff wins in the two seasons before 2013.
Let’s not forget Kubiak was an offensive coordinator in Denver before becoming the Texans head coach.
I believe this is a good hire by the Ravens and he’ll probably do well in Baltimore, eventually becoming a head coach in the league. But his time in Houston was all but done and it is a good change of scenery for Kubiak and Co.
