In his first mock draft of 2014, NFL.com’s Charlie Davis, an NFL media analyst, has the Houston Texans selecting Teddy Bridgewater with the No. 1 overall draft selection in the 2014 NFL Draft in May.
Davis said of Bridgewater of the selection:
“A very fluid pick here for the Texans. This is not set in stone.”
I still like Bridgewater with the No. 1 overall selection, but like Davis said, my projection isn’t set in stone, either.
It is still January, but from what I have watched, I like what I saw from Bridgewater, especially how he led the Louisville Cardinals in his final collegiate game over Miami in the Russell Athletic Bowl.
Davis’ Top 5 in the draft also includes the St. Louis Rams selecting Jake Matthews (OT), Johnny Manziel (QB) at No. 3 to the Jacksonville Jaguars, Jadeveon Clowney (DE) at No. 4 to the Cleveland Browns and the fifth pick by the Oakland Raiders being Sammy Watkins (WR).
He has Blake Bortles (QB) going to the Minnesota Vikings with the eighth pick.
Of Bortles, Davis said:
“No player will be more scrutinized in the pre-draft process.”
Some mock drafts have Bortles going No. 1 overall to the Texans, showing this process of mock drafts is a complete guessing game, until the day of the draft and the pick is officially made.
