Our friends at NFL Mocks, a Fansided draft site, recently unveiled their complete second round mock draft where they had the Houston Texans drafting Florida State safety Lamarcus Joyner with the 33rd overall selection.

Erik Lambet of NFL Mocks wrote:

"“Inconsistency at safety must be addressed for Houston.  Lamarcus Joyner lacks size but is a playmaker with a cool head on his shoulders.”"

I like this pick in a way and I dislike it in another. I do believe the Texans need to improve at the safety position, but I don’t believe it is in the second round.

What I would like to the Texans do with their second round choice is go after a running back, because as I wrote earlier this week, Arian Foster’s injury scares me and with Ben Tate leaving, the Texans need a dependable, young running back to fill in for a good part of the season in a reserve role or as the No. 2 back.

I really like Tre Mason of Auburn. The running back is projected in this mock draft to be selected at No. 44 by the St. Louis Rams.

Of Mason it says:

"“No running back had a bigger ending stretch to the season than Tre Mason.  He runs with a purpose, has good vision and can be a receiver as well. “"

The Texans need a player like this on their offense, especially if they draft a quarterback in the first round with their offensive minded head coach Bill O’Brien.

It is just a thought. What do you think?
