Clemson has 12 players on the CBS Board with five of them being projected in the draft, including first round projections Sammy Watkins (WR) and Vic Beasley (outside linebacker).

The player I want to preview though is quarterback Tajh Boyd (6-1, 225 pounds), a potential third to fourth round selection.

Boyd, who is compared to Russell Wilson is the 123rd overall rated player (the 10th overall QB) with a 40-yard dash time of 4.64.

The All-ACC second team selection has had a good season with his draft page stating:

“He is the first quarterback in school history to be named All-ACC three times. So far this year Boyd has completed 252-373 passes for 3,473 yards and 29 touchdowns.”

Boyd’s draft analysis by Rob Rang states:

“Very good velocity overall, especially on in-breaking routes at the intermediate and deep level. Shows good touch to loft passes over the heads of linebackers and under safeties over the middle.”

But his weakness are listed as:

“Has a bit of a wind-up. Takes the vast majority of his snaps out of the shotgun. Surrounded by playmaking receivers who can turn his short passes into long gains.”
