Fansided editor Josh Sanchez is reporting former Houston Texans defensive end and third round draft choice Sam Montgomery wasn’t released due to marijuana use as previously reported by ESPN.com.
The Fansided article states:
“Following his release, Montgomery voluntarily submitted to an independent drug test in order to provide further proof and evidence that he was not using illegal drugs. The results of those tests came back negative, confirming his statement that he was not using marijuana or illegal substances.”
Also in the Fansided article it says:
“According to his agent, Jeff Guerriero, Montgomery already has several teams expressing interest in him and has team visits scheduled beginning (Thursday).”
In a statement by Montgomery’s agent Jeff Gurrriero he said to ESPN.com:
“It is our position that the story written about Sam Montgomery by ESPN, which sets forth that he was dismissed from the Houston Texans for using marijuana, is completely inaccurate.”
As someone who follows the Texans on a daily basis this is just a wacky situation.
Montgomery being cut by the Texans Monday has become a he said, they said type of situation. The only plus is this is happening during a bye week, because if the Texans had to deal with this, along with trying to snap a five-game skid that would be a lot to overcome.
