While reading the Houston Chronicle online Wednesday I can upon the article about how a Houston area restaurant now sells a “Matt Schaub Special.”
The special is described as a “Pick Six” where fans can pick six toppings for their burger … and pay dearly. Just like the namesake.
For those of you who are new to the Texans, Schaub is prone to throwing the dreaded “pick six” this season (and in the past), including one that tied the game with the Seattle Seahawks this past Sunday late in the fourth quarter. It looked like the Texans were headed for a win. The Texans lost in overtime, 23-20.
Schaub has since “paid dearly” for that last pick six with Texan fans, who rightfully are angry with their starting quarterback. One fan even set fire to a $200 jersey following the game.
Since Sunday, Schaub has also deleted his Twitter account following the backlash, though he’s received support from his head coach Gary Kubiak.
The restaurant offering the burger is Skeeter’s Grill. My hope is Schaub goes in and orders one of the burgers. Why not? It wouldn’t hurt for the quarterback to show a sense of humor and just go along with the idea.
