Touchdown Tailgating is a weekly column from food and football fan Caitlin Ryan as she gives ideas and recipes for your home viewing or tailgating days of football.

Whether you are football-obsessed, a casual fan or you just watch it to appease friends, relatives or significant others, chances are you agree that a glorious part of football is the food.

Appetizers, sandwiches, pizza, chili, side dishes … Saturdays and Sundays are a time to graze. I mean, you can’t watch football without something to eat. It’s kind of the law.

We are in that period at the end of summer/beginning of fall where it is starting to cool off but isn’t too chilly yet, so I have made some game day food that should fill you up without being too heavy or too light.
