J.J. Watt ranked best defensive player

ESPN.com has ranked Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt the No. 1 overall defensive player in the NFL.

Watt in 16 regular season games in ’12 was named the Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year. He totaled 81 tackles with 20.5 sacks and forced four fumbles. He also recovered two fumbles and battled down 16 passes according to ESPN Stats and Information.

The 24-year old Watt is entering his third season. In his two seasons Watt has 137 tackles with 26 career sacks.

The rest of the Top 5 were Von Miller (LB, Denver Broncos), Patrick Willis (LB, San Francisco 49ers), Darrelle Revis (CB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and DeMarcus Ware (DE, Dallas Cowboys).

Houston opens the ’13 regular season on Monday, Sept. 9 in San Diego.
