Greetings Texans Fans!
According to reports in the Houston Chronicle, rookie outside linebacker Sam Montgomery was placed on the non-football injury list. Reportedly for showing up to camp out of shape and overweight. When the Texans drafted Montgomery there were concerned voiced as to his dedication based on LSU strength coach Tommy Moffit who left a sign out for NFL Scouts last year.
This is not good news for the Texans as depth at linebacker is a priority and having a rookie show up not ready to go is usually a bad sign. Here’s hoping Montgomery makes the decision to commit to being the best he can be and steps up his game and get’s in peak shape. Nothing dismays fans or teams like laziness in a player, especially a rookie. Also placed on the non-football injury list was rookie safety Orhain Johnson.
Gary Kubiak and Wade Smith are likely going to give the young man a chance to make things right, however first impressions last and not showing up to camp ready to rock and roll will take a lot of hard work to overcome.
