We’ve waited two weeks for the Texans’ 2013 draft picks to make an appearance on the field, and on Friday, the day finally came for DeAndre Hopkins to show his stuff.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Hopkins impressed during the Texans rookie mini-camp, taking in a one-handed catch and engaging in a humorous stare down with cornerback D.J. Swearinger. Gary Kubiak was among the onlookers, and came away satisfied with Hopkins’ performance, but also liked what he saw from sixth round draft pick Alan Bonner.

Overall the wide receivers have looked solid ever since draft day, both on and off the field, despite Hopkins and Bonner cramping up under the heat of day two.

Unfortunately linebacker Sam Montgomery’s back strain dampened the mood a little as well, which looks to be in part thanks to the stubborn artificial turf at The Methodist Training Center.
