Nick Scurfield of Texans.com reported earlier today that Texans tackle Derek Newton will be out until training camp.

Newton had surgery this offseason to repair the patella tendon in his right knee, after missing two games in December during his second season with the team. All of this opens up some competition at right tackle now, as third round pick Brennan Williams could challenge for the starting spot.
