The Houston Texans signed fullback Greg Jones on Wednesday. We spoke yesterday about how Jones could help out the Texans’ offense, and before he could fly home to think about the offer, general manager Rick Smith managed to reel in another signing.

No news of financial figures are out just yet, but it’s likely Jones is earning somewhere between $1 million to $2 million this season. Coming from the Jaguars, Jacksonville now loses a premier run blocker – as well as a guy who has helped Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor countless times to find a running lane through the defense.

If Jones didn’t sign with the Texans, it looked as if Smith would target a fullback in the draft, recognizing how thin the team is at the position. Looks like the Texans have once again landed their man though, earning a free agency hat trick.
