Ed Reed Joining Houston Texans Not So Certain

Two days ago Ed Reed flew into Houston, met with general manager Rick Smith, and two Texans financial advisors to discuss calling Reliant Stadium his new home in 2013.

Things looked good yesterday – Reed liked the southern hospitality, and especially liked owner Bob McNair’s private jet, so he ended up staying the night after meeting with defensive coordinator Wade Phillips. Then Reed went home on Friday to Atlanta, and we were all left feeling a little hot and cold on the chances of him signing after no agreement was reached.

Yesterday it was said Reed was seeking $6-7 million by the Texans, a long with a multi year contract the team could probably afford. But on Friday the Baltimore Sun reported that Houston had only put $5 million up on the table, even though that may not be the entire reason Reed left Houston empty handed.

Chances are Reed is just mulling things over, and Chron.com thinks talks will continue over the coming days.

What remains interesting in this whole ordeal though, is if Reed chooses to visit other teams. Rumors of a trip to San Francisco continue to swirl, so keep an eye on that leading into Monday.
