Colts Are Toxic

With week 14 in the books, week 15 has more on the line for the Houston Texans, as they need one more win to clinch the division. While the Texans were clearly blown out last week by the New England Patriots, the Texans are still one of the better teams in the NFL as they have a balanced game on all fronts, something all teams vie for. One of the best attributes of the Houston Texans is turnover ratio in which they are +14, third to only the Patriots and the New York Giants. The Colts are the second worst in the AFC with -16.

While the Texans and Colts both are in the green in terms of record, the Colts are in the deep red in what is called a toxic turnover ratio. The more turnovers a team commits, the more detrimental or “toxic” it is to how the team performs overall. The AFC South isn’t exactly the most competitive division, although every team does have its stars. When the Texans square off the Colts this Sunday, look for the Texans to mount a quick turn around from last week and try to make rookie Quarterback Andrew Luck make rookie mistakes. He has after all thrown 18 touchdowns / interceptions this year, and going against the Texans high octane defense won’t help.

With only three weeks left, the Texans need only one win to clinch. However with a loss early mixed in with unneeded momentum, the Texans would plummet into horrible playoff position.

This week I give the Texans the edge, they are coming off a huge loss and they should be motivated to pounce on the Colts and clinch the AFC South as well as a prime position for a first round bye.
